It can get overwhelming at times. Chemical exfoliant, Physical exfoliant, AHA’s, Retinol etc etc. I purchased a gift set with multiple products and Sunday Riley’s Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment was one of the products. This product really hooked me, fast. In fact, I did not know much about it before buying it. Now that I have purchased it twice, because it works for me I found out more about it.

Sephora website says it is “An all-in-one AHA treatment, powered by lactic acid, that clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes the appearance of skin. Good Genes is clinically proven to plump the look of fine lines and wrinkles in as few as three minutes. Formulated with high potency, purified grade lactic acid, it exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. The formula is enhanced with licorice extract to visibly brighten the appearance of age spots and discolorations.”

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment comes in a luxe frosted glass bottle with a gold accent. It has a pump mechanism to dispense the product, which is so convenient.

Formula

This Lactic Acid serum has a lotion like consistency that spreads easily. Firstly, it absorbs well and is not greasy. Secondly, it has a concoction of active ingredients, that are good for you. Active ingredients include Purified Lactic Acid, Licorice, Lemongrass and Prickly Pear Extract. These ingredients together help with exfoliating the surface layers of skin, brightening and soothing the skin. One of the most important things is that this does not pill when applied under any other products I use. I love that!

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment is a chemical exfoliant as opposed to physical exfoliants. Physical exfoliants have texture e.g. scrubs, microbeads etc.

My Experience

A little bit about my skin. My skin condition varies from season to season. I have acne prone, sensitive skin. I have an oily t-zone and drier cheeks, so I would say I have combination skin. Lactic Acid is one of the most popular alpha-hydroxy acids used in skincare. It is much gentler than glycolic acid on my skin.

Every time I use this product my skin looks radiant the next day. In other words it is firmer, plumper and brighter. I do not apply Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment every day. I alternate it with retinol every other night. It does not irritate my sensitive skin or cause breakouts.

As always be cautious while using lactic acid products with other potent ingredients like retinol, benzoyl peroxide, other AHA’s and BHA’s. Be sure to wear sunscreen while using Lactic Acid products, because with all the exfoliation your skin is more susceptible to sun damage.

Finally, even though it has a hefty price tag, I feel I am using less products because my skin requires less maintenance.
