Random fun fact, all snowflakes always have six sides or points. I began this post with a quote about snow. And I am going to review 6 shades of pink nail polish perfect for spring and summer. Fun, right?
Four of the shades are from Essie, one is from Marc Jacobs and one is from Tenoverten.
Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish 150 Haute To Trot
The formula is marketed as a long-wear nail polish with gel-like colors and shine. This polish is smooth and easy to apply. I applied 2 coats to get an even and opaque coat. Haute To Trot is a cool toned light pink shade. Apply a top coat for a shiny result. The bottle is a little wonky shaped and looks like it has been twisted. The brush is larger than the nail brushes from the regular Essie series.
Essie Nail Polish 216 Splash of Grenadine
Splash of Grenadine is a gorgeous color. The formula is smooth and creamy. It is a feminine purplish-pink color that's a perfect mix of purple and pink. I applied 2 coats to get opaque coverage. I also top it off with a top coat for maximum shine.
Essie 224 Mod Square
Mod Square is a barbie pink which looks fabulous on your hands and your feet. It is a perfect color for spring and summer. You get a saturated look by applying 2-3 coats. Top coat helps maintain the shine.
Marc Jacobs 116 Shocking Enamoured Nail Polish
Shocking is a hot pink, shocking pink shade with a high shine, encased in a chic bottle. Opaque in 2 coats. The cap comes off and is not a part of the brush. It dries to a shiny finish. I have not been able to find this shade in Sephora, but there are many similar shades.
Essie Watermelon
Essie Watermelon is a vibrant pinkish reddish fuchsia color. This shade turns reddish the more coats you put on. This can be a negative point for someone who wants the pinkish fuchsia look. But look at it another way, more looks in one bottle. The formula is creamy, non streaky, opaque in two coats. Love this shade and the name. Just screams spring, summer!
Tenoverten Mott
Mott is a bright pink nail color. Tenoverten is an 8-free + cruelty-free + vegan brand. This is a high shine, creamy formula. It is opaque in 2 coats. Application is smooth and it dries glossy. You can apply a top coat for more shine.
Wear Time
Almost any brand of nail varnish I use, shows signs of wear after 3 days, but I found a way to keep my nails looking great for longer. Actually, I am doing all kinds of non-glamorous jobs, for example doing dishes without any gloves on, which is hard on my nails. I also work with kids at a school, which means I am constantly washing my hands. When I wrote this article, I used to work with kids, but since the pandemic I am at home and still constantly washing my hands.
With a top coat and doing the dishes with gloves, washing hands constantly, I get about 5 to 6 days of beautiful nails with these nail polishes. As a matter of fact, the secret is to use a top coat and to do dishes with gloves on. Although this may be true, at around 5 to 6 days I get slight tip wear and some nail growth.
Everyone has a different body chemistry and external factors that contribute to how long your nail polish stays on.

This is the first post I wrote for the blog, but did not publish it. Hard to believe I wrote this in May 2020 and I am publishing it now. The kids picked up dandelions on our walks and wanted to include them in our photoshoots. I had no clue about flatlays etc. and just put nail polish on our front porch and was pleased with the results. The pics are not perfect but we had a great time creating this post with some of our favorite pink nail polishes perfect for spring.
