How do you start your makeup? Do you do your eyes first and then the rest of your face or vice versa? I always do my eyes first and then my face. It helps that after my eye is done, I can clean up my under eye area before doing my face. I always apply sunscreen first, and apply my face and eye primer after the sunscreen dries. Today I have a quick review of two NYX Jumbo Eye pencils and Epic Eyeliner in Brown.
Target website says “NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eye Pencil is a double, dare we say triple threat? This radiant eyeliner crayon doubles as an eyeshadow and even a highlighter! Apply it to your water lines, inner corners and entire eyelid! NYX Professional Makeup products are proudly PETA certified cruelty-free.”
What Target Website says about the Epic Eyeliner “ This long-lasting formula is made to resist sweat, humidity, crying and precipitation and stays in place until you say when. Choose from two classic eyeliner colors, black or brown, then get ready to line and define.
Featuring a vegan formula with no animal-derived ingredients or by-products, all NYX Professional Makeup products are proudly cruelty-free and PETA certified.”
Packaging & Formula
The NYX Professional Jumbo Eye Pencils come packaged in a hard plastic that has to be sharpened from time to time with usage to expose the product. I have used my Urban Decay sharpener to sharpen these in the past. Before buying these I was curious as to how these would sharpen, but no problems in that area. The formula is very creamy, you must wear a primer otherwise these will definitely crease on you.
The NYX Professional Epic Ink Eyeliner is a liquid eyeliner with a brush tip for precise application. The tip falls somewhere in between being stiff and flexible.
Yogurt is a champagne-ish color without being too silver. It can be used as an inner corner highlight. Iced Mocha is a nice taupe-brown color on me. The Epic Ink Eyeliner in brown is just as the name suggests, a brown eyeliner.
The NYX Professional Jumbo Eye Pencils in Yogurt and Iced Mocha are extremely creamy. Very easy to apply. However they crease a lot, without primer. I mainly use them for a quick run to the grocery store. I use Yogurt in the inner corner and on my eyelid and use Iced Mocha in the outer V of the eye. Line my eyes, use mascara and my quick eye look is done.
I had high expectations from the NYX Professional Epic Ink Eyeliner, but it disappoints. The formula is runny, and on my lids it does not seem very pigmented. It also seemed to fade a bit with time. I tried the brown one, it could unquestionably be darker. I got the brown and black liners from this range and have tried just the brown one. Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that the black liner is better than the brown one.
- Price point is great
- Both the Jumbo pencils and the Epic Ink Eyeliner are easy to apply
- Jumbo Pencils can be used as a base for powder eyeshadow
- If you have oily lids, these will crease. You need a primer
- Need a large-size sharpener to sharpen the jumbo pencils
- The eyeliner was not pigmented on my eyelids, for reference I am somewhere in between NC37-Nc40 in MAC and Beige 40 In Chanel
