For the longest time, I stayed away from Black Eyeshadow. After all I am a brown eyeshadow gal. I love neutrals and have a huge collection of eyeshadows. Black smokey eyes is out of my comfort zone. That’s why I decided to do this black brown smokey eye with nude lipstick look. Let’s see how it went.
Cream Eyeshadows For My Black Brown Smokey Eye Look
As my base I used the Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color in the shade Night. It is really pigmented and I was scared to use it at first as my darkest looks have been with browns, not blacks. But it was easy to use. I just used it on my movable lid and blended the harsh lines. Also, I did one eye at a time, because I did not want the color to set while I was working on the other eye.
I am in love with the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadows. During the Holidays she comes out with sets which I always buy the sets and have a mini collection of these wonderful cream eyeshadow sticks. For this look I used the shades Rose Gold and Amethyst. I used Rose Gold in my inner corner and use just a little bit of Amethyst in my crease.
Powder Eyeshadows For My Black Brown Smokey Eye Look
I used Urban Decay’s Single Eyeshadow in Blackout on top of the Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color and used Urban Deacy’s Beware on top of Laura Mercier Amethyst, in my crease. Since I have oily eyelieds I always use an eyeshadow primer. And using some powder eyeshadow on top of cream ensured that my eyeshadows stayed put for a really long time.
Eyeliner For My Black Brown Smokey Eye Look
I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Whiskey on my lower lash line. Any good old brown eyeline will do. I also smudged a bit of Urban Decay Beware eyeshadow on my lower lash line. Apply your favorite mascara and you are all set with this eye look.
Nude Lipstick For My Black Brown Smokey Eye Look
My lipstick for this look is MAC Velvet Teddy. It washes me out if I don’t have darker eyeshadow shades on my lids. So I got this lipstick when I first got into makeup, years ago. But since I never wore eyeshadows then, this color always washed me out and I never liked the end result. So I depotted it and threw that container away after a few years. Then I got into eyeshadows and realized this lipstick would look good with deeper eyeshadows. And so I purchased a brand new tube of Velvet Teddy.
