When one of my favorite makeup brands came out with a new foundation, I had to try it. I was really excited when I heard that Hourglass is set to release their Ambient Soft Glow Foundation. After all I love their ambient blushes and ambient lighting powders.
The Nordstrom website says this is “A weightless liquid foundation that delivers 16-hour medium, buildable coverage with a light-diffusing effect.”
Packaging Of The Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation
The foundation comes packaged in a beautiful frosted glass bottle. The cap is similar to the gunmetal packaging the rest of the Hourglass products have. It has a pump mechanism to dispense the product.
Formula Of The Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation
According to the Nordstrom website “This foundation is infused with blurring spheres to minimize the look of imperfections for skin that looks smooth, even and glowing. The transfer-resistant formula is also resistant to humidity and sweat for flawless coverage that stays in place.” It is also cruelty-free and vegan. Additionally it is free of parabens, phthalates, gluten; it has no fragrance and synthetic dyes. The liquid formula has medium coverage and a natural finish.
Shades Of The Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation
This foundation comes in 32 shades. I picked the shade 8 which is described as a light medium with neutral undertones.
I love most things I have tried from Hourglass Cosmetics. Their ambient blushes and face powders have been my favorites for a really long time. They work for me. I know in the past the brand was not very inclusive but I think over the years they are trying to change things. This foundation has a medium coverage and is buildable. I apply it with a brush and it blends easily and does not settle into my fine lines.
Also one huge thing is that this does not oxidize on me. This finish is not too matte, not too glowy. I have some acne scarring and I find that the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation does not emphasize that texture. Moreover I am happy with the amount of coverage it provides. On most days I prefer light coverage and wear tinted sunscreens. But on days that I want more coverage this is just perfect.
Shade matching might be a little tricky if you want to make a purchase without actually swatching it. The pictures on Sephora and not always an accurate representation of what the shade actually looks like. Overall I am really happy I got to try this foundation.
*Gifted by Hourglass with no obligation to make a blog post about it.
- Beautiful finish
- Vegan and cruelty-free
- Did not break me out
- Picking up a shade online might be tricky
