Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer

Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer

A primer is a product applied to create a smooth base to hold onto make-up products that come afterward. I apply primer after my sunscreen. Actually I have combination acne prone skin and my primer helps my make-up stay on longer. So many options to select from moisturizing primer, blurring primer, color correcting or the traditional silicone-based primer.

Sephora says Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer is “A velvety priming balm of pressed silk that smooths and makes makeup last longer while keeping it out of skin, helping to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. This multitasking skin-protecting, makeup-perfecting primer is for face, eyes, and lips. Silk extracts feel nourishing on skin and diminish the look of pores, fines lines, and imperfections for the perfect canvas before makeup. Silk powder makes makeup glide on more evenly and last longer, minimizing excess shine with a soft focus finish.

Formula

Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer has the consistency of a thick paste. It is designed for all skin types. You don’t need a lot and it makes a nice base. This primer works with all the foundations in my collection. Apply after your regular skincare routine and allow it to set for a bit. Follow with your regular make-up routine. This primer is infused with Tatcha’s Hadasei-3 complex, thin layers of silk and anti-pollution natural actives.

My Experience

Immediately after application, my skin looks smoother and has a blurred out look. Sometimes I use the measuring disk to scrape out a very tiny amount of the primer. Other times I just use my fingers to pick up the product. The primer is smooth, dewy and does not leave a white cast. It does not feel heavy or mask like. Foundation goes on flawlessly and stays put.

I found that the Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer blurs out my under eye lines. Use it alone or under makeup. Try exfoliating once or twice a week if you see dry patches after applying primer. Towards the end of the work day I do see that my t-zone is shinier than before. But nothing a blotting paper or a facial tissue can’t solve.
I first got the travel size to test it out and honestly it is worth it to purchase the full size.
