What is the Ambient Lighting Powder?

According to Sephora “Ambient Lighting Powder is a groundbreaking collection of finishing powders that capture, diffuse, and soften the way light reflects on skin. Unlike traditional powders, which merely cloak imperfections, Ambient Lighting Powder utilizes photoluminescent technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of the complexion. The powders deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer and lit from within. The finishing powders enhance skin in any type of light, including flash photography. With three universal shades available in the Ambient palette, you can create any desired effect.”

Packaging

The Hourglass palettes are a thing of beauty. Hourglass products are packaged in a bronze, brown, reflective compact with rounded edges. The front of this mirrored compact has the brand name written on it. In short the compact looks sleek and classy. Also each powder is separated into different pans.

My Experience

These powders don't look like much in the pan, but they transform on your skin. It's like magic! Importantly, all three colors from Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Volume I work on my medium NC35-40, Chanel 40 Beige skintone. Without a doubt, this is one of may favorite palette to travel with. It has Dim Light which I absolutely love and have used up multiple single compacts of. The powders don't cake up and provide a luminous glow.

I use Dim light all over my face as a setting powder that almost blurs out imperfections. It is never too much. I find that, it is very difficult to overdo this. It photographs so well. There is nothing glittery or shimmery about this powder. This is my favorite powder to use as a setting powder, from Hourglass.

Next up in the palette is Incandescent light. I use this powder as a highlighter, on the high points of my face. It has a soft, beautiful sheen that is very subtle. If you are looking for a very obvious highlighter, this is not it. But if you want that glow from within look, try this out. This powder helps me achieve a natural glam kind of look.

Last but not least is Radiant light. Radiant light warms up my face and I can also use it on the perimeter of my face. I have medium skintone and I believe fair beauties may be able to use this as a bronzer. When ever I want a luminous glow I'll use this on top of my blush. This does have some shimmer in the pan, but the shimmer is not visible when I apply it to my face. I always tap the brush before I apply Radiant light and that could be the reason I don't see shimmer, just a beautiful glow.
