I was beyond thrilled to lay my hands on this beautiful Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Universe Unlocked Face Palette. Long story short, we went to the mall to buy something else. But my husband saw me staring, swatching this palette and got it for me. Thank you so much!!
I normally do my Holiday shopping in November. So I went into Sephora to see what Holiday items they had received, since a few items showed up on the website. I had no intension of buying any Holiday makeup. But this was so sweet and thoughtful of my husband.
Sephora website says this is “A limited-edition palette that features two bestselling and three brand-new Ambient Lighting Powder shades.”
Packaging Of The Hourglass Ambient Universe Unlocked Palette
Around the Holidays, Hourglass releases their Unlocked Palettes. The previous years palettes have had 6 powder products. But this years palette has 5 powders. The all over face powder is in a larger size this year. The outer packaging has the swirled texture of their powder bronzers. The container is made of sturdy metal and has a magnetic closure which I love. The palette also has a nice sized mirror.

I have always loved Hourglass powders. On me the powders really work. The blushes, bronzers and the lip products I have tried have been great. I also know that the brand is trying to be more inclusive and cater to deeper skin toned beauties. Therefore, I picked up the deeper of the two palettes and I feel it is really very pigmented. I have to use the blushes with a light hand. Less is more when it comes to the blushes in this palette.
I am medium skin toned and have been color matched to NC30-37 and NC40 in MAC and 40 Beige in Chanel. I use Radiant Light as an all over face powder. The blushes Rose Heat and Coral Flush are stunning and very pigmented. They blend beautifully. One thing that I felt was both the blushes sort off look as if they belong to the same color family. One is magenta pink and the other is also a pinkish coral. I am in love with the bronzer, Radiant Bronze Light. Even though I love makeup, somehow I was not very interested in bronzers. Thankfully that has changed and I am looking to add more bronzers to my collection. The highlighter is really beautiful. Adds a nice glow. It’s not subtle in any way.
I feel that Coral Flush and Radiant Bronze Light might not show up on deeper skin tones. This palette is suited for medium to tan skin tones. So try it before you decide to buy it. Hourglass has a 3 pan palette for deeper beauties. That palette looks amazing too. All the colors in Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Universe Unlocked palette work for me and I am happy with how the powders perform on my skin.
- Beautiful, pigmented powders
- Vegan and also Cruelty-free
- Did not break me out
- Will suit medium to tan skin tones
- The lightest blush, Coral Flush and the bronzer, Radiant Bronze Light might be too light for deeper skin tones
