I cannot believe that there was a time, that I had no bronzers in my makeup collection. Somehow because I am medium skin-toned, I wrongly believed that I do not need bronzers. Then I tried a bronzer and the rest is history. Now I have many bronzers. And newly added to my collection is the Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer.

The Sephora website says this is “A sheer, buildable bronzer to add a wash of natural-looking warmth and depth. Lightweight and flexible, this buildable cream bronzer effortlessly blends into skin to add natural-looking warmth and soft definition only where you need it. The product’s oval shape makes it easy to apply with precise strokes while the neutral undertones ensure zero orange hue.”

Packaging Of The Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer
This bronzer comes packaged in a beautiful gold tube. It has an oval shaped tip, which makes application easy. The packaging looks minimalistic and luxe at the same time. The packaging is recyclable.

Formula Of The Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer
This is a sheer bronzer with a natural looking finish. It is vegan and cruelty-free. The highlighted ingredients are fatty acids and microfine pigments. The microfine pigments add a touch of color to your skin but do no cover the natural texture of your skin. And the fatty acids condition your skin and lock in moisture. It is also formulated without acne-triggering ingredients.

Shades Of The Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer
Currently this bronzer is available in five shades.
- Quince – fair skin
- Clay – light skin
- Seine – medium skin
- Leo – medium-deep skin
- Monarch – deep skin
I picked up the shade Seine, which is perfect for my medium skin tone. For reference I am shade B40 in Chanel. I have also been matched to NC35 – 37 in MAC.

How To Use
The Merit website says “For warmth, use the wide side to swipe anywhere the sun naturally hits. To sculpt, use the narrow side for precise application. Blend with Brush No. 1 or your fingers.”
My Experience
I am not a huge fan of heavy contouring. But I enjoy using a bronzer to sculpt and add warmth to my face. What I first noticed about the Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer is how creamy it was. It blends easily. I used it on my jawline, forehead, cheeks and needed just one swipe to add warmth to my face. I use my fingers to blend it and it works perfectly.

The formula is on the sheer side, but it can be built up. Moreover I was surprised that it did not disappear within a few hours. I got almost eight hours of wear time from this bronzer. Most importantly, it did nor break me out.
This is a perfect product for your everyday makeup kit.
